The first UEM in 2012

The first international UEM2012 meeting had started on Friday 21 september.  Not officially, but most people had to drive a long distance to come to the meeting which took place in Altes Lager in Barbarahalle,  so we opened the doors a day before the opening. It was about three that the first people arrived and our crewmembers welcomed them and gave a little explanation of how the things were planned. At the end of the evening we had about 25 people around the fire. Nice talks about our experiences from exploring. After one beer or two we all went to bed finally.

On saterday we started early to welcome new guests and to plan the opening. All a little bit nervous, but I would say healthy stress. At 10.00h all visitors gathered at the fireplace. We arranged a BMP and drove with it to the fireplace. There was a short opening speech in English by Myself (could not read the polish version anymore)

Afterwards some people took the opportunity to drive with the BPM and about 1200h we all went to “Flieger Hoch Shule” for a (guided) tour. Manfred our guide walked along with us into the area. What happened I don’t know, but he had spoken a few words and everybody was gone. We were free to walk around and after 4 hours we came back to the Barbarahalle. After that we visited  “buncker Bear” which was opened for this occasion.

Some of us went to other locations in the area. Krampnitz or Buttonfactory and we all were back in the evening to start a big campfire. The firedepartment was informed about our stay and the fire reached a hight from about 2 meters. It was cold that evening but beneath the fire we all survived. Holger and Gurt gave a workshop lightpainting and for most people with success.

On Sunday 23 at 10.00h we planned a visit to the “Haus der Offiziere”. We hired the area for a day and Herr Nauman was waiting for us at the gate. First we made a group foto. After this everybody could do his thing here. We were free to walk over the area for another 7 hours. After this some left to their homes again and some went back to Altes Lager pick up their tent.

We as organization are very glad with the result of the weekend. Urbexers meet urbexers , we all completed the weekend and we would thank you for that.

Personally I will thank all crewmembers for their good job. And special thanks to the Peter, Rita and Manfred from Barbara halle and herr Nauman from security.  We decided to keep up our work and hope to see you all next year.
